“Le Picchiaie” is a park in the heart of the isle of Elba, on the top a hill overlooking the Gulf of Portoferraio. The verdant nature sets up the frame of a unique panorama: the vibrant blue of the sea and the Tuscan coast stretching far along the horizon, complemented by the presence of the Volterraio Castle, witness of over eight centuries of history. The hills and heights all around Le Picchiaie are covered by Mediterranean vegetation, such as pine trees, oaks and secular cork oaks, together with scented broom, briers, wild lavender, rosemary and rare wild orchids.
